Internet of things is wrongly confused for only the smartphones and few other related smart devices revolving around a human interface environment. There are billions of other endpoint services like WiFi, barcode scanners and various types of network communications. Smart Watches and virtual reality glasses are the new openings in this niche. There are also other machine sensors, motion sensors, RFID tags and other artificially intelligent endpoint that can collect data from the user’s environment. All these data gathered is stored in the cloud for further analysis and storage. This data is used productively in multitudinous ways for the betterment of user applicability.
When thinking of IOT what we most think of its devices but this centric focus on devices is shifting. The applications being created for the mobile devices no longer serve one purpose. The devices come fitted with sensors and actuators. These cater to all the data in and around the user body as well as environment. This data can be used and interpreted for various purposes. There will be overall interaction with surrounding medium leading to usage of various robotics and artificial intelligence techniques.
Earlier applications were developed to serve only one purpose. As IOT is gaining prominence, the devices are made to interact independently to half the human stress to capture data from every nook and corner of their living world. The developers are laying close focus on catering the consumer needs and delivering the industry best mobility solutions to capture data with least human input.
Recently the Google Glass was deployed for various purposes in medical schools. These devices have surely bridged the gap between the patients and the physicians. The records of a surgery can be recorded with ease. These can also be shared online instantly. Besides the Google Glass, a number of sensors are today being fitted into the road architecture to streamline the city traffic and safeguard life and property. Water sprinklers come preloaded with sensors to capture the data and time related to water sunk into the soil and the time taken. This not only saves users’ time but also conserves natural resources like water. Thus, IOT is part of our lives now which we cannot deem to ignore. It is here to stay and help us regulate our life processes.
