Wearables are the most vital asset with a slew of products being launched by the big IT companies, to resolve day to day issues and give multiple functionality to the users. With the rise in use of smartphones and tablets, organisations have started to launch products which require minimal inputs. These wearable like smartwatches, smart ring, smart wristband or Glass, have paved the way for more personalisation of devices. They have embedded sensors which make the overall functionality of these devices highly efficient and responsive.
Over the years, smartphones and tablets have been the sole aggregator of mobility. They have been incorporated in various sectors and industries to automate vital work processes. There is no denying the fact that a mobile app is the soul of a smart device which is why there has been a sharp increase in the app development for all platforms. Tablets have created their own niche in the overall market and bring forth a whole new set of usage.
Mobility has found relevance in education, health care, pharma, messaging, emails, mobile banking, analytics, logistics, and several other generalised as well as personalised tasks. Wearables on the other side were launched with much buzz but have not received much applause by the users across the globe. They have been specific in their approach. There is hence a dire need to insert functionality in these products that simplifies overall routine of a user and link to all parts of a user’s life.
Over the years, the users have been demanding a sense of personalisation for secure web browsing. There is always news of corporations making use of public data for their benefits. Several people have reported of security threats. Therefore a level of personalisation is required to keep the user’s data safe and secure. Wearables like smart watches store and record a particular user’s data. These intricate pieces of technology adds further level of data service to users. But they are build for a particular set of functions like keeping a record of pulse rate while exercising etc.
A layman’s opinion for the use of wearables is sometimes that when a smartphone or tablet already offer variable solutions then why must one incorporate wearables in their lives. Smartwatches are popular as lifestyle gadgets with some additional smart features unlike the normal watches. Mobile apps developers must take cognizance of the fact that users today look for a multi tasking platform that is able to associate with users and engage on a more deeper level.
While being specific in workability, smartwatches keep user data secure and use it for different purposes. On the other hand, data saved on other portable devices like smartphones and tablets is associated with several applications at a given time. While this is exactly what users need at this time, there is some expectation from wearables and especially smartwatches to render a multi tasking functionality to users. This is not an easy job and fulfilling needs of all users is very challenging. There are anticipations to see smartwatches being able to associate all life areas of one user, at the least.
