Google will be releasing its SDK for wearable technology based on Android platform for third party developers. Sundar Pichai, Vice President of Android, Apps and Google Chrome states that SDK will be ready for launch in another two weeks. Google is rumored to collaborate with LG Electronics for the launch of smart watch. Other companies like HTC, Motorola will be now able to use Android for another category of wearable devices.
Pichai was reported saying that both smartphones and wearable devices are being consumed at an evenly parallel stage. Where smartphones have become mini computers, wearable technology will work as an array of sensors that would carry out speedy actions of our daily routine tasks. Google plans to set up a common OS for smartphones as well as wearable technology. Use of Android in both categories shall aid well in formalizing the Big Data. The Internet of things shall be operable in organized fashion if there is regularity in the use of operating system. Google is working on a set of protocols that connects the working of Android smartphones and Android wearable devices. This would make Android the universal OS providing base for developing other such wearable devices. Google is already preparing protocols and meshing layers for interconnecting the devices which might lead to the production and launch of their own set of hardware for the wearable technology.
This year could witness huge development in the arena of wearable technology. We are already seeing launch of several new devices like smart ring, smart watches, smart TV and smart cars. These all have sensors installed. By the use of wearable technology, we will be able to access the distant appliances with just one eye movement or finger movement. Users are very much excited about the upcoming deflection in the use of technology which is not only more convenient but also would keep them updated about every significant detail concerning their body, life and lifestyle.
