Google has been on its toes as far as mobile and web applications concerned. After the success of android in the mobility sphere the search giant has emphasized on web-based applications. This is clear from the recent push of Google in the form of packaged chrome apps that can even work offline without the need for data connectivity. although these applications are web-based browser applications, they can take advantage of the offline cache preferences to work as a native application.
But the recent moves from the stable of Google clearly indicates that it has much bigger plans for these web applications. It seems that Google is planning on building a tool for developers to help their web applications go mobile. This means that Google plans of running those same web application on android browser. Dubbed as Mobile Chrome Apps this project by google has been on the Github since May. Having a closer look at the repository reveals the code to a toolkit for porting Chrome packaged apps to ones that will run on Android and iOS by using Apache Cordova.
