Another private link network, Anglo Rank, has been tracked down and penalized by Google. Matt Cutts, the search engine giant’s head of search spam, wrote a fairly direct tweet on Twitter, alluding to Anglo Rank’s marketing material, and pointing to the fact that Google was able to identify and track down the websites that were in the network:
“There are absolutely NO footprints linking the websites together” Oh, Anglo Rank.
Anglo Rank is the latest addition to Google’s growing list of targets in its bid to combat search spam and poor linking methods, following the footsteps of other popular link networks, like Ghost Rank 2.0, SAPE Links, BuildMyRank.com, and Text Links Ads. After confirming directly or indirectly that Anglo Rank was penalized, Mr. Cutts also confirmed that it resulted in penalty notifications to those involved with it. Those messages were beginning to appear on Google Webmaster Tools, and thus he felt it is acceptable to make the announcement public with a tweet.
