We are searching for the minimal furniture piece that suits any occasion. Opens today “Passepartout”, the latest contest launched by the participatory design platform Formabilio for young and talented designers.
The designers are called to conceive the furniture piece, home accessory or lighting project that is minimal, able to match any interior style, like the master key can open many doors. We are looking for projects with an immediate character, linear, neat, that could be placed anywhere, ready to be used and that go well with everything.
Projects have to respect certain fundamental requirements: to be in the furniture, home accessory or lighting category (therefore cannot be submitted objects or toys) It has to be “doable” with the materials –solid and panel wood, upholstered furniture with few different finishing- and production capacity of Formabilio’s partner companies. Another essential requirement is the dimension of the packaging that cannot be over 230 cm in length and exceed 30 kg of weight (packaging included) for each parcel in order to keep shipping costs low. Plastic is not forbidden as long it is used for tiny parts, it is easily available and do not require moulds or particular tools for its manufacturing process.
Projects can be submitted online from 10:00 am CET November 20th, 2013 and by no later than December 18th, 2013 at 6.00 pm CET.
Formabilio’s community can vote the projects until 6:00 pm CET on January 8th, 2014. Winners will be announced on January 22nd, 2014.
Finally, the technical Commission formed by representatives of Formabilio, manufacturers, communications and design experts, will select at least 2 projects to produce them. Following Formabilio’s philosophy, at least one must be chosen among the 10 most voted projects.
As always, Formabilio will produce the winning projects and designers will get 7% of the final sale price on formabilio.com.
